On September 26, the town of Vilanova i la Geltrú became, for one day, a meeting place for Romanian traditions, tastes, and stories. The Romanian Culture, Tradition, and Gastronomy Festival brought together the Romanian community in Catalonia, local residents, and guests eager to discover more of Romania's spirit.
The event was organized by Romanian associations and entrepreneurs in Catalonia, with the support of the Consulate General of Romania in Barcelona and Banca Transilvania, as part of the program dedicated to the 145 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Kingdom of Spain.
Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to discover Romania through music, dance, traditional crafts, and authentic cuisine. Romanian artists, local producers, and artisans highlighted the traditions, gastronomy, and values that define Romania’s cultural identity.
For many Romanians living in Spain, such events are opportunities to stay connected to their roots and share Romanian culture with the new generations.
Spain is home to one of the largest Romanian diasporas, with approximately 610,000 Romanian residents and an increasing number of entrepreneurs contributing to the local economy.
At Banca Transilvania, we are pleased to support projects that bring people together and help strengthen the ties between Romania and Romanian communities abroad. The festival in Vilanova i la Geltrú was yet another proof that, regardless of distance, Romania can be close through culture, traditions, and people.
